July 19-21, 2014 – Kisameet Bay
Leaving Pruth Bay through Meay Inlet heading to Hakai Passage, the waves were CRASHING against the rocks .... very dramatic.
We saw birds (eagles and gulls) feeding on a herring ball ....
We chose to anchor in Kisameet Bay, a small, quiet and
beautiful little bay up Fitz Hugh Sound.….
We had the bay pretty
much to ourselves (other than the native fishing boat that was trying to catch
salmon heading up the creek to spawn).
After getting settled, we headed out in the
Grady, into the channel to do a little fishing,
and caught a beautiful 10 'ish # COHO salmon .

We caught ONE salmon but since this is tag team fishing, everyone gets to "hold" it ... and more importantly, EAT IT !!
We tendered up to Namu (an old BC Packers fishing site, now abandoned) …..
Its a bit of a mess and sad that BC Packers would be allowed to just walk away from it without having to clean up the mess ....

We kayak'd ......
.... and before we pulled out on the 21st, we headed out to try a little halibut fishing ….
With SUCCESS !!!!

With a freshly caught
10'ish # halibut on ice and a forecast of 35 kn winds, we hauled anchor and
headed to Shearwater where we will be joined by my dad on the 22nd for a little fishing and fun !!!
A halibut?! Lucky you! Looks like the sea is sharing her bounty...
