July 20, 2013 - SKUNKED !!

July 20, 2013 - Skunked ....

No crab for dinner …. We fed the female crab population of Ucluelet, but those do us no good …. :-/  All had to be thrown back .... BUMMER !!!

Heading into a VERY busy marina from a much quieter anchorage  ….. but busy = interesting.

We dingy’d into the marina, called a cab and headed to Wya Point Lodges that Scott designed.  Our cabbie, Ellen, (the one and only cabbie in town I might add) was delightful, and was thrilled to be able to take us to the lodges, as she had heard great things about them but had not yet seen them.  She was as anxious to see them as we were ....
Out of town we headed and we were not disappointed - the lodges are SPECTACULAR !!               NICE JOB SCOTT !!!
One of the units was open & being cleaned so we got to go in and have a little look around.  They are brand new and absolutely gorgeous inside … and perched on the rocks above a beautiful cove with the surf pounding in … it was breathtaking !!

If you wanted a truly “west coast experience”, these places would be perfect.  (With the booming metropolis of Ucluelet just a $25 cab ride down the road !!! )
The lodges are all cedar and each a different design.   This is unit #3 …. (loved this one!!)

Each of the lodges have totem carvings inside, usually in the main (living) room …. Airy, open spaces. They are beautifully furnished and have full windows on the ocean side looking out at the surf.
It was fun to see how beautifully Scott’s project is turning out ….
Back in Ucluelet, we headed to the Float House Pub for lunch where we met ARROW … a cute little blonde local gal ….

Had a great lunch and headed back to the boat to pull up anchor and head into Barkley Sound …

Lucky Creek, here we come !!!

…. And beware all crabs …. We are coming !!
Prepare to meet your maker !!!!!!!!
We HOPE …
(I am melting butter “as we speak” …..)

***  A couple of things to note .... for those of you "watching" we are back on AIS .... (obviously getting closer to civilization !)

and ... the J that you sometimes see on my blog is how this program sometimes reads a happy face, for some unknkown reason !?!?!  So when you see a J ... know that I am smiling at you !!!  :-)
And I'll speak to Bill Gates about this next time I see him ....  hahaha

  1. Thanks for the tip, I have been reading blogs for years and never did figure out what that J was doing. Figured it was kind of like Carol Burnett pulling her ear to let her Mom know all was well, but then I found it on other blogs as well. You know what they say "it's a poor day when you don't learn something" so today is a good one!
